Following Whirlpool’s acquisition of the Hotpoint/Indesit brands, Indesit Company has closely reviewed the safety of its product portfolio.

As part of this review, we have identified a potential concern with two types of tumble dryers manufactured between April 2004 and September 2015. In some rare cases, excess fluff can come into contact with the heating element and present a risk of fire. The affected brands are:

Hotpoint
Indesit
Creda

so, please check your washer by filling out the form with Hotpoint which you can get here I have done this as mine is affected and it has put me off using it though they have said it is fine to use if you follow the maintenance and clean out you fluff draw every time you use the tumble dryer. Hotpoint are sending an engineer out to fix the fault and it will only take an hour to fix.

I want to give you some information and background on the charity I donated my hair too.

Little Princess Trust is a charity that makes wigs for girls and boys who have lost their hair during treatments for cancer and other hair loss illness. They take donations of real hair and send them off to their manufacturer where they take your hair and turn it into a wig. It’s not up to Little Princess Trust to say if your hair is suitable, it is up to the manufacturer.

If they decide your hair is suitable it will be blended into a least 5 other donations just to make one single wig. Although they give the wigs at no cost to those who need them, they cost an average of £350 each to make just one wig. Therefore they ask if you are going to donate your hair that you please consider raising money for the charity at the same time. Any amount that you raise will help towards these costs. In 2013 a girl named Jessie J donated her hair to Little Princess Trust by shaving her head. They are very grateful to receive any donations BUT shaving your head is the donor’s decision and is not required as long as the donor can donate the minimum length of 7 inches. There is no maximum length you can send, but there are other guidelines such as:

Suitable hair types:

Clean, dry hair in good condition which has no split ends from males and females, and of any natural colour
Straight, wavy, curly, permed or chemically straightened (in good condition)
Hair with grey (less than 10%)
Dyed, bleached/highlighted (any dyes must be of a natural colour)
Layered (shortest layer must be at least 7”/17cm)
Plaits/ponytails, cut a long time ago, preserved in good condition
Unsuitable hair for Little Princess Trust children’s wigs:

Hair that is less than 7”/17cm in length
Dyed an unnatural colour (blue, green, purple)
Largely/mostly grey hair
Afro (the wig-maker is not a specialist manufacturer of Afro wigs. The Trust buys these wigs separately
Dreadlocks
Hair extensions
t he Guidelines to follow are:

Immediately prior to the cut, please wash and dry your hair. Please do not send wet hair in the post as this will sadly render your kind donation unusable. Please do not add any styling product though conditioner is acceptable
Have your dried hair tied into a number of plaits or pony-tails, secured at both the root end and the tip end with an elastic band
Ask your hairdresser to cut your dried hair above the bands at the root end, thereby releasing plaits/ponytails, tied at both ends. You can now have your hair cut further and styled (or shaved if that is your intention)
Place your dry plaits/ponytails into a clear plastic bag (for example a freezer bag) as soon as possible after they have been cut. Place them in a padded envelope and post using a standard postal service.

Now I’ll tell you why and what I did 🙂

I recently donated 10″ of my hair to Little Princess Trust. I did this because recently my Niece’s friend from school was diagnosed with leukaemia. After being told she may lose her hair during treatment I decided to do some research to see what I could do to help. In doing so, I found Little Princess Trust and read about what they do. I also found out this is where the little girl will get her wig if and when she needs it. So Friday 12th June 2015 I had my hair cut. My hair came to about halfway down my back. After having it trimmed to take away the split ends, my hairdresser asked me a few times before she cut it if I was sure and I said “yes I am sure” so she proceeded with the cut. I am starting to like my hair but I didn’t at the start. At the bottom, there is a gallery
So far have raised 50% of my target amount.
